Bipolar Disorder Advocate
At 18, I experienced the heartbreaking loss of my father, who had bipolar disorder and took his own life. This event left me grappling with shock, anger, and grief. I was profoundly affecting for years. Diagnosed with bipolar disorder in my mid-20s, I made poor decisions that compounded my struggles. Despite the chaos, I survived.
Through prescribed medications and a strong support network, I now focus on living a better life. Mental health professionals played a crucial role in my recovery, which inspired me to pursue a career in mental healthcare. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2008.
In 2021, I earned an MBA in Healthcare Management, but after an unfulfilling stint in management, I returned to my passion — advocacy. I support friends and families of those affected by bipolar disorder, understanding firsthand the challenges they face, as I did with my own family. My calling is to share my personal journey to educate, motivate, and inspire those affected by the disorder.
Today, I wear two hats:
As a healthcare leader, I’m actively seeking new management opportunities where I can apply my clinical insight, leadership experience, and business training to improve systems of care.
As a bipolar advocate, I share my story to educate and empower families and loved ones navigating the disorder. My goal as an advocate is to empower Friends and Family with tools and coping skills to provide care for those diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
I believe those diagnosed with bipolar disorder
deserve to have Long, Productive, and Successful lives.
